Gynecomastia Surgery blog

Now more than ever, we’re comparing ourselves to others. Images of seemingly perfect people are everywhere and almost impossible to ignore. Social pressures to look a certain way definitely take a toll on us, damaging self-esteem and mental health.

As men, we’re expected to have muscular pecs, so having extra breast tissue can be a touchy subject. If you’re struggling with this and want to make a change, we at Temecula Plastic Surgery Center Renuance have options for you and we’re here to answer all your questions.

What is gynecomastia?

You may have heard the term gynecomastia before, but what is it exactly? Gynecomastia is excess breast tissue in boys or men. You may experience tenderness or feel lumps beneath the nipple. There are multiple causes for this, including weight gain, liver disease, and the use of certain drugs, but the most common cause is hormonal imbalance between estrogen and testosterone.

Gynecomastia can occur in one or both breasts, and can affect males at different stages: after birth, during puberty, or later in life. If affected during the former stages, the issue typically resolves itself. If affected in the latter stage, there are steps you can take to help.

Is gynecomastia a serious problem?

Typically, gynecomastia isn’t serious, but it also depends on the underlying cause. This is why it’s important that you see your doctor and get a diagnosis. Some tests may be performed, such as liver function tests, X-rays, or a biopsy. However, in some cases, tests may not be needed in order to make the diagnosis.

How we can help

Once you’ve received a diagnosis and your doctor has determined the underlying cause for your case of gynecomastia, the next steps can be taken toward alleviating your worries. You begin with a complimentary phone consultation with our team at Renuance Cosmetic Surgery & MedSpa to understand the procedure and make an informed decision. Should you decide that surgery is right for you, our team works with you every step of the way to create a safe and positive experience.

Our procedures take place in an AAAASF-certified suite on-site to ensure your safety and comfort. General anesthesia is typically given to men undergoing the procedure. Our surgeon gives your chest a more muscular and toned appearance by removing excess tissue from between your skin and chest muscle. A drain may be placed to limit swelling, if necessary. The only remnants of your procedure should be tiny scars and a brand new appreciation for your body.

If you’re ready to take the next steps toward a new outlook on life, give us a call at 951-309-2769 or send us a message via our website to set up your consultation. We’re looking forward to helping you become the best version of yourself!
