Botox® or Fillers? Which Treatment is Right for Me?
The amount of people opting for plastic surgery or nonsurgical augmentations has been growing steadily over the last few years, with BotoxⓇ and fillers being the top minimally invasive procedures. With this rise in popularity and new, innovative techniques coming out, you may be considering Botox or fillers. But how do you know which treatment is right for you?
The team here at ourTemecula plastic surgery practice offers both Botox and fillers, and we’re here to help you make the decision that’s best for your desired aesthetic.
Botox is a type of injectable that uses a toxin called onabotulinumtoxinA, which temporarily stops a muscle from moving. The injections block chemical signals to nerves, which would usually tell the muscles to contract. Once the Botox has settled into the muscle and blocks the signals, the muscle relaxes, allowing you to still make natural facial expressions.
No need to worry about having a “frozen” look — our experienced team has the training and skill to administer just the right amount for you.
In addition to smoothing out facial wrinkles, Botox is also used to help other conditions, such as lazy eye and eye twitching.
Each treatment typically lasts up to six months. We schedule touch-ups at your convenience to prevent wrinkles from returning.
Here at Renuance Cosmetic Surgery & MedSpa, we use Juvéderm fillers to rejuvenate your skin. These fillers are used to restore volume and moisture to your skin, and contain hyaluronic acid, which your skin naturally produces, but decreases with age.
There are a few different types of Juvéderm fillers, all with different consistencies in order to treat a variety of conditions. Depending on your specific needs, we determine which one is best for you. For instance, if you’re looking to fill deep creases around your nose and mouth, we may recommend Juvéderm VollureTM.
If a nonsurgical facelift is what you desire, we may use a combination of Juvéderm fillers, along with Botox to create a liquid facelift. This procedure restores the contours of your face without the inconvenience of a long recovery period or stitches.
Juvéderm fillers can last between six months and two years, depending on which filler is used.
Among the other Juvederm products in our arsenal are:
Our experienced aesthetic specialists recommend the combination that will deliver the results you are looking for.
While both of these procedures are safe when administered by a professional, there are risks that you should be aware of, including: swelling, bruising, pain at the site of the injection, headache, tenderness, dryness, lumps, discoloration, and itching. Most side effects subside within 30 days.
If you’re looking to smooth out your skin and reduce wrinkles in your forehead or crows feet, Botox may be the better treatment for you. If you’re tired of seeing deep creases and sagging skin, or want to restore volume to your face or lips, Juvéderm fillers may be the way to go.
