Renuance Cosmetic Surgery Center

Cosmetic Surgery & MedSpa located in Murrieta, CA

As women and men age, they tend to lose fat in areas where it makes them look youthful — like their mid-face — and accumulate it in unflattering places, such as under the chin or on the abdomen. At Renuance Cosmetic Surgery Center in Murrieta, California, Brian Eichenberg, MD, and Rachel Ford, MD, can perform a fat transfer, in which they transfer excess chin or body fat to your cheeks and mid-face for a younger, more energized look, or use it to fill out other curves. Fat Transfer Q & A

What is fat transfer?

fat transferFat transfer is a minimally invasive procedure that transfers fat from an area where you don’t need it — such as your chin or abdomen — to your mid-face and cheeks.

Your doctor removes the fat with liposuction, processes the fat, and then injects it into your facial skin to restore volume, moisture, and lift. You can use your facial fat transfer as an opportunity to resculpt your body, too, like with a Brazilian butt lift.

Why should I get a facial fat transfer?

As we age, our skin loses key components that keep it firm and youthful, such as hyaluronic acid (HA), collagen and elastin, and fat.

A fat transfer replaces that lost volume with your unneeded fat so that it integrates into your tissues and restores your skin’s thickness. Fat transfers:

  • Restore youthful contours
  • Correct wrinkles and creases
  • Smooth indented scars

You can replace dermal fillers with a longer-lasting fat transfer.

How do fat transfers make facelifts look more natural?

A facelift alone is a great way to restore your face to a more youthful position and trim away redundant skin. By adding a fat transfer to your facelift, you restore youthful volume as well as position. The end result is softer and more natural-looking than a facelift alone.

What happens when I get a fat transfer?

In the first part of a fat transfer, your surgeon liposuctions excess fat from underneath your chin (i.e., the submental area), or from the body area of your choice.

If you’re only having enough fat removed for a fat transfer, your doctor performs the procedure with local anesthesia. If you’d like to fully liposuction a large body area, such as your abdomen or hips, you may require general anesthesia.

After removing the excess fat, your Renuance Cosmetic Surgery Center surgeon processes it in a centrifuge. They inject the fat into your cheeks and mid-face to fill in your missing volume.

If you’re having a facelift, your surgeon adds the fat to your face after the lift while you’re still under general anesthesia.

How long does a fat transfer last?

Between 70-90% of the fat transferred in your graft only lasts for a few months. However, the rest of your fat integrates into your skin and can last for up to three years.

Restore your face’s youthful contours while sculpting your body, too, by getting a fat transfer procedure. Call Renuance Cosmetic Surgery Center today or use the online form for an appointment.
