No matter which plastic surgery procedure my Temecula patients are interested in, they all want to know the same thing: “How long is the recovery?” As a board-certified plastic surgeon, I do my part to ensure that the surgery goes smoothly with a reduced likelihood of complications. That means creating a detailed surgical plan and executing the procedure with precision.

The recovery period, however, is highly patient-specific, since everyone heals differently. There are certain things you can do, however, to ensure that you heal quickly and comfortably. I recommend these 3 tips:

  1. Plan beforehand. Be sure to have everything in place before surgery so you can relax and recuperate with as little stress as possible. This means purchase groceries, ice packs, magazines and other supplies so that you will have everything you need when you get home.
  2. Follow all post-operative instructions. The directions you receive for your home care are intended to promote safe and rapid healing and protect you from injury. Be diligent about following these instructions exactly, and call the doctor’s office if you have questions.
  3. Stay hydrated. Surgery causes you to lose body fluids, making you dehydrated and tired. Drinking plenty of water will rehydrate your body and encourage normal body functioning so you can heal.
